“The Far North Wilderness Bike Tour is a fabulous way to experience the rainforests of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.  By bike, you can really immerse yourself in the forest; seeing, hearing and smelling things that you could never see from a car.  It seems that on some days, there is a creek to cross every few kilometres providing an opportunity to wash off the dust and sweat in the clear waters of a rainforest stream.  But it’s not all hard work.  An ice cream at Shaylees Strawberry Farm makes a morning of hard pedaling very worthwhile.  The CAFNEC volunteer kitchen crew do a terrific job serving up tasty and filling food in camp and along the route.  I’ve always enjoyed the company of fellow riders.  Coming from all over Australia – and sometimes overseas, we have always been quick to form into a friendly and supportive group.  The campfire at night is a great place to share stories about the day’s ride – some of them true!”

“I have done the Far North Wilderness Bike Tour over the last few years and talked many other people into going on the ride.  I really enjoy the ride because there is always a nice cross section of people.  We ride through some very lovely country.  The food is really good and the organisation is very good.  It also appeals to all levels because some of it can be quite challenging, yet other sections are just nice riding on station roads.  There is a very enjoyable bar for refreshments after a hard day run by some characters and an occasional sing song.  All up a fantastic experience.”

“Do you want to have a holiday with like-minded people that are very easy to talk to and extremely friendly; mountain bike riding through beautiful North Queensland bush, riding on both bush roads and a bit of bitumen, with beautiful scenery and swimming holes while enjoying great 24 hour back-up support?  The food is great, and caters for all palets.  The people who run it are friendly and very supportive.  This will be my 3rd trip this year and I am looking forward to the adventure, and all that goes with it.  When talking to the riders at the end of the journey, they are all just thrilled with what they have experienced and looking forward to the ride the following year, taking a different route.  Some of the riders come from far and wide throughout Australia and make it an annual event on their ride calendar.  Hope to see you there!”
